The Real Estates

How many times have you cooked a large meal for a holiday or dinner party and as the guests are arriving your kitchen drain is gurgling with potato spuds and water? That has happened to me more than I would like. I thought I could easily solve the problem with Clorox. Now to complicate the matter I had put sterling silver into the dishwasher. When my husband started the dishwasher the water and Clorox washed back and forth from the stopped up drain to the dishwasher. So when I opened the dishwasher a couple of hours later, I had BLACK sterling silver!

We poured 3 bottles of Drano into the stopped drain. Nothing. Just more water and slug. Finally I called a plumber. Dinner parties always occur on the weekend. The plumber arrived with his roto rooter and fixed the problem. But he did say there is a product that only the professional plumbers can purchase. It is an enzyme that multiples through your pipes and will eat the problem away. It might be worth having on hand for those desperate moments when the doorbell is ringing and the kitchen drain has just erupted into Mt. Vesuvius. Oh and by the way...the silver did turn into to a glorious shine again but only after hours of polish. A lesson hard learned of putting sterling silver into a dish washer.

When I find the name of the enzyme, I will post it here.
